Tidigt på morgonen

När sabbaten var över, köpte Maria från Magdala och Maria, Jakobs mor, och Salome välluktande kryddor för att gå och smörja Jesu kropp. Tidigt på morgonen efter sabbaten kom de till graven när solen gick upp. Och de sade till varandra: ”Vem skall rulla undan stenen från graven åt oss?”

Jag har ofta tänkt och jag vet inte om det är helt ortodoxt, att Guds brinnande kärlek är de heligas ljus i himlen, själarnas rening i skärselden och helvetets plåga.

På så sätt tar evigheten sin början redan här på jorden, Gud älskar oss och han önskar vårt gensvar men han tvingar oss inte att älska honom, han inbjuder oss.

When we were treating of the passions, joy and sorrow proceed from love, but in contrary ways. For joy is caused by love, either through the presence of the thing loved, or because the proper good of the thing loved exists and endures in it; and the latter is the case chiefly in the love of benevolence, whereby a man rejoices in the well-being of his friend, though he be absent. On the other hand sorrow arises from love, either through the absence of the thing loved, or because the loved object to which we wish well, is deprived of its good or afflicted with some evil. Now charity is love of God, Whose good is unchangeable, since He is His goodness, and from the very fact that He is loved, He is in those who love Him by His most excellent effect, according to 1 John 4:16: "He that abideth in charity, abideth in God, and God in him." Therefore spiritual joy, which is about God, is caused by charity.

Abandonment

Dear Lord Jesus,
by Your Passion and Resurrection
You brought life to the world.
But the glory of the Resurrection
came only after the sufferings of the Passion.

You laid down Your life willingly
and gave up everything for us.
Your body was broken and fastened to a Cross,
Your clothing became the prize of soldiers,
your blood ebbed slowly but surely away,
and Your Mother was entrusted to the beloved disciple.

Stretched out on the Cross,
deprived of all earthly possessions and human aid,
You cried out to Your Father that the end had come.
You had accomplished the work given You,
and You committed into His hands,
as a perfect gift,
the little life that remained to You.

Lord, teach me to accept all afflictions
after the example You have given.
Let me place my death in Yours
and my weakness in Your abandonment,
Take hold of me with Your love,
that same foolish love that knew no limits,
and let me offer myself to the Father
with You so that I may rise with You to eternal life.

Jag ber dig att du utverkar åt mig från den gode Guden, hopp mitt i mina lidande, mod att inte ge upp kampen, kärlek för mina vänner och fiender, hjärtats frid och starkare förtröstan och tillit till Gud. Jag ber dig också att du beskyddar min familj genom din mäktiga förbön inför Gud.
