Prayer to St. Joseph
To you, O Blessed Joseph, do we have recourse in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your thrice-holy spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also. By that charity wherewith you were united to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God, and by that fatherly affection with which you did embrace the Child Jesus, we beseech you and we humbly pray, that you would look graciously upon the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by His Blood, and assist us in our needs by your power and strength. Most watchful guardian of the Holy Family protect the chosen people of Jesus Christ; keep far from us most loving father, all blight of error and corruption. Mercifully assist us from Heaven, most mighty defender, in our conflict with the powers of darkness; and even as of old you did rescue the Child Jesus from the supreme peril of His life, so now defend God's Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; keep us one and all under your continual protection, that we may be supported by your example and your assistance, may be enabled to lead a holy life, die a happy death and come at last to the possession of everlasting blessedness in Heaven. Amen.
"I only beg, for the love of God, that anyone who does not believe me will put what I say to the test, and he will see by experience what great advantages come from his commending himself to this glorious patriarch and having devotion to him. Those who practice prayer should have a special affection for him always. I do not know how anyone can think of the Queen of the Angels, during the time that she suffered so much with the Child Jesus, without giving thanks to Saint Joseph for the way he helped them. If anyone cannot find a master to teach him how to pray, let him take this glorious saint as his master and he will not go astray."
